25yr Old Man Reportedly Jumps Into Hot Iron Melting Pot At His Work Place in Lagos
A tragic incident occurred at a company in the Odogunyan Industrial Scheme area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, where a 25-year-old contract staff member allegedly died after jumping into an iron melting pot.
The Lagos State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.
The incident was reported by the company’s safety officer to the Sagamu Road Police Division on August 3rd around 6:00 p.m.
According to the report, the staff member, who was attached to the AOD Section of the company, ran towards the iron melting pot, an area restricted to all staff during operations, at about 3:15 p.m.
“He jumped into it and all efforts made by his colleagues to stop him proved abortive, while his body was completely melted.
“Detectives from the station visited the scene of the crime. The family of the deceased has since been contacted, while investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin said.
