It wasn’t me waiting, but my girlfriend who happened to be in the ER of her hospital when Weird Woman came in once again.
Weird Woman was (in)famous in the emergency room: she was a frequent flyer because every now and then she felt the compulsion of inserting objects in her body.
Large objects. Sharp objects. Dangerous objects.
Today, Weird Woman had swallowed forks and spoons — like twenty of them. Yes, you read that right: twenty.
As usual, they had to be surgically removed because of the many complications they could cause — infections, internal bleeding, gastro-intestinal obstruction / perforation, the options were wide.
But this time, an inexperienced nurse — who did not know the patient — left Weird Woman alone for a brief moment.
When she came back, she couldn’t believe her eyes.
Somehow Weird Woman had found surgical scalpels, and was devouring them one after the other, wounding herself in the most bloody way.
The young nurse was extremely shocked.
After Weird Woman was restrained, sedated and operated on, all the alien objects were surgically removed from her tender body — included the scalpels — and she was “empty” again.
When she was ready to leave the hospital, Weird Woman — who was very nice and polite — thanked the doctors and nurses, and walked away after saying her usual visionary words:
