An Egyptian woman insisted on the fact that her husband’s sperm be checked

because they were trying to get pregnant, and nothing happened at all. And she would not take no for an answer.

Back in Egypt, his fertility never was a problem because they’d had three children there, and now nothing seemed to happen. Maybe it was the change of climate, maybe it was stress, but “she had to know what was going on.”

His semen sample turned out to be a dead end in more than one way: there was not a single living sperm cell detectable. Even weirder: it had always been like that, because not much later the man was diagnosed with a very rare congenital condition in which patients are infertile from birth.

He never could have babies at all in the first place.

And yet she was the one who kept persisting that something be done, even when she had been unmasked as a serial cheater by the tests she had insisted on herself, and even when the urologist tried to explain calmly to her husband that he might not be the biological father of his children.

When they finally left the consultation room, she kept on shouting that in Egypt she NEVER had had any problem whatsoever in getting pregnant.

And for the first time since she had entered the hospital, she wasn’t lying.
