In Pennsylvania, USA, a local legend emerged amongst the local community that a haunting and disfigured creature or ghost could be seen walking along a wooded road at night.
After the story got more popular, people went out in groups to try to find this entity, only to find out that the man in the picture was actually a real person!
Raymond Robinson was only 8 years old when he climbed an electrical pole to look into a birds nest. Robinson then made contact with an electrical current which was estimated to have been as high as 22,000 thousand volts. 40 volts is established to be enough to kill a human. Robinson fell off of the pole and lost his eyes, nose and right arm. His face practically exploded due to the raw power of the electricity.
Surprisingly and against doctors expectations, he survived, though he was now blind and needed assistance with basic tasks. Robinson was conscious that going out in public in the day would cause people to panic due to his injuries, so he went for long walks at night only using his walking stick. He would pose for photos with people for cigarettes and beer. He died in 1985.
Robinson’s story has developed a urban legend of sorts in West Pennsylvania, and his legacy is still know to his area to this day. He was known as “The green man” as it is said that his skin had a green tint due to his incident, though this is likely to be an embellishment of the story as it had been passed down so many times.
