The bronze socketed axe complete with a charred wooden handle, dates back to 1000–800 BCE and was uncovered in 2016 at Must Farm in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire.
Now housed at the Cambridge Archaeological Unit, the axe comes from Britain’s best-preserved Bronze Age site.
The settlement, destroyed by a catastrophic fire, plunged into a shallow river, where silt encased and remarkably preserved its remains.
